Nick Weir is co-founder and Executive Producer of Portofino Partners, a creative production company focused on film, theater, media and digital technology. Beginning in 2010 with the launch of MashPlant.com, the first online community developed exclusively for kids who are passionate about the entertainment arts, Nick has produced more than 20 hours of original programming, featuring Jim Belushi, Jeanette McCurdy, Bill McGlaughlin and The Second City.
As a theater producer, Nick has been involved in the New York premiere of the Ronnie Cohen & Jane Beale drama, "Witnessed by the World" (2014), and the world premieres of two comedies by actress / playwright Ryann Weir; "The First Ladies Project", which won critical attention when it debuted at NYTW's 4th Street Theater in 2012, and "Debutante", which opened to critical raves in 2014 at the Bernie Wohl Theater in New York City.
In multimedia, digital technology, Nick was a principal partner in the creation and launch of MashPlant, the leading social learning platform used in classrooms and organization, worldwide.
Along with his wife Nora, Nick has been a lifelong supporter of civic and arts organizations in several cities, including Young Chicago Authors, which provides outreach to inner-city schools promoting spoken word poetry, Miami's Art Basel and the Shakespeare Theatre in New York. Nick and Nora are the proud parents of daughter Ryann Weir, a graduate of the Tisch School for the Performing Arts at NYU and a playwright and actress living in New York, and son Dylan Weir, a Chicago-based writer and poet, currently doing graduate work in English literature.
